A Brief History
Malaysia Hall Perth (MHP) is strategically located at 268, Newcastle Street, Northbridge, WA 6000 which is within Perth City. This building was chosen due to its strategic location to accommodate Malaysian students who are studying in the Perth area and it also has easy access to public transportation.
The building is situated at the corner of Newcastle Street and Lake Street which used to be a famous backpacker accommodation in Perth. The building was a heritage building built in 1896 which comprises of 36 rooms to accommodate 45 number of residents and guests. It also offers facilities likes library, prayer room (surau), multipurpose hall and recreational room.
The building was officiated by the then Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Muhyiddin bin Haji Mohd Yassin on 13 November 2014.
The Hall is open to Malaysians who are studying in Australia and Malaysians alike who are travelling to Perth. Strict regulations are being implemented at MHP. Charges are based on the categories such as students; long stay or short stay and non-students.
